Cát Tiên National Park is an important national park located in the south of Vietnam, approximately 150 km north of Ho Chi Minh City. It has an area of about 720 km² and protects one of the largest areas of lowland tropical rainforests left in Vietnam.
The park suffered historically during the Vietnam War when it was extensively sprayed with herbicides like the defoliant Agent Orange; however, further damage was done by logging up until the 1980s. To this day these areas have extensive bamboo and grassland cover and trees have not yet grown back.
Take an unforgettable two-hour night excursion by jeep deep into the jungle, to watch the nocturnal wild animals drinking and hear the calls of rhinoceros.

Itinerary:
Day 1: Saigon - Cat Tien national park (D)
Pick up at your hotel in dist. 1 or dist. 3 in Saigon
After leaving the busy city of Saigon, take National Highway 20 to a mountainous area full of roadside plantations of rubber and green coffee. A short, smooth 150km bus ride takes you to an extinct volcanic crater, known as Lava Tubes. Cross the Dong Nai River to enter the Cat Tien National Park and begin your wildlife experience.
In the afternoon, go on a three-hour trek through the Reserved Core Area where you will see many trees of different species that are hundreds years old. Then return to the center for dinner

Day 2: Cat Tien park - Saigon (B, L)
Wake up to the uplifting songs of the native birds. A good breakfast will sustain you for another four-hour trek to see the Crocodile Swamp. Return to the center for lunch and take the bus back to your hotel in Saigon.
End of trip!
