Ho Chi Minh City, formerly named Saigon is the largest city in Vietnam. It was once known as Prey Nokor, an important Khmer sea port prior to annexation by the Vietnamese in the 17th century. Under the name Saigon, it was the capital of the French colony of Cochin-china and later of the independent state of South Vietnam from 1955-75. South Vietnam, as an anti-communist state, fought against the communist North Vietnamese and Viet Cong during the Vietnam War, with aid from the United States of America and countries including Australia, New Zealand and South Korea. Saigon fell when it was captured by the communists on April 30, 1975, bringing an end to the War with its enemy's victory. Vietnam was then turned into a communist state with the South overtaken. In 1976, Saigon merged with the surrounding Gia Định Province and was officially renamed Hồ Chí Minh City after Hồ Chí Minh (although the name Sài Gòn is still commonly used.)

08:00AM to noon time: morning sightseeing for exploring the great atmosphere around of lively China town. Get into the rythm of this busiest and colourful scenes of Binh Tay market and Thien Hau Temple in the morning. We then visit the War Remnants Museum. Return to meeting point.
Ends of morning trip.

13:30PM to 16:30PM: afternoon sightseeing for visiting Reunification palace which was the residence of the President of South Vietnam until end of the war in April 1975. Continue seeing some impressive French colonial structures including Notre Dame Cathedral and the Old Central Post Office. After visiting XQ embroidery workshop. take a break-time at Ben Thanh market where anything and everything is for sales. Return to District 1. Drop off at the meeting point.
